Smart and solid, he did a good job of mirroring his man off the snap. Used a polished hand technique to get a quick lock on, then was very hard for his opponent to shake off. A former wrestler, he dug in well to wall off bull rushers inside. Worked hard and was a high-character leader. Played too upright at times and struggled to get a low base. Lacked drive in his blocking and struggled to power through opponents. Also, he would often depend on latching on and mauling. Lacked length and fluid athleticism, which limited his in-play adjustments. Was not fast out on the second level.
