Allen getting most of the first-team work
Newark Star-Ledger
News
Jets S Antonio Allen is getting most of the first-team reps during OTAs.
Forecaster Impact
Allen is competing with S Dawan Landry for the starting safety spot opposite rookie S Calvin Pryor. With all three options solid against the run, the Jets are searching for someone to shore up a pass defense that was one of the worst in the league last season. Allen needs some work in that area, and his progression in coverage during camp will go a long way to determine if he can hold of Landry for the starting job.

Coach Rex Ryan talks up S Antonio Allen
ESPN New York
News
Coach Rex Ryan talked up S Antonio Allen following the draft, saying he "really looks forward to seeing what [Allen] does."
Forecaster Impact
The Jets selected Louisville S Calvin Pryor with the 18th pick on Thursday night, but Pryor is expected to replace Dawan Landry in the starting lineup as an in-the-box, run-stopping safety. Allen, a college linebacker, started eight games last season but still needs to improve in coverage. He's solid against the run.

Jets S Antonio Allen to enter 2014 as starter
ESPN New York
News
ESPN New York expects Jets S Antonio Allen to enter 2014 as a starter, "barring a significant acquisition."
Forecaster Impact
Allen appeared in all 16 games as a second-year pro, making nine starts -- eight at strong safety and one at free safety. He was part of the problem when it came to defending the pass on the back end for the Jets, but Pro Football Focus gave him solid marks as a run defender. Allen player some linebacker in college at South Carolina, so his coverage skills are going to need polishing.
