The Lions released Ausberry (finger) on Tuesday, the Detroit Free Press reports.
David Ausberry is running as the first-team tight end at OTAs.
Ausberry missed all of last year due to a shoulder injury. He enters this year with the edge on pass-catching specialist Mychal Rivera due to superior blocking ability, and also has the advantage in raw speed. Still, we don't expect Ausberry to be an every-down player after Dennis Allen called Rivera a "foundation piece" last month. There's low-end TE2 upside at best here.
Raiders TE David Ausberry has been participating in offseason workouts.
Ausberry spent all of 2013 on injured reserve. He hasn't had any setbacks with his shoulder injury and is competing with Mychal Rivera for a starting job. A converted receiver, Ausberry has 4.48 speed and will be worth monitoring in training camp.
Raiders placed TE David Ausberry on injured reserve with a shoulder injury, ending his season.
Ausberry exited the Raiders' second preseason game with a "potentially significant" shoulder injury, and hadn't practiced since. The 2011 seventh-rounder had been slated to open the year as the Raiders' starting tight end, but will instead go into his walk year with just nine career catches. The Raiders are stuck with Jeron Mastrud and rookie Mychal Rivera at tight end. Rivera has five catches through two games. Ausberry has vanishingly little Dynasty-league value.
Raiders TE David Ausberry has been ruled out for Week 3.
Ausberry still hasn't returned to practice and remains week to week. The Raiders will go with a committee of Jeron Mastrud and Mychal Rivera for Monday night's game against the Broncos.
Raiders TE David Ausberry (shoulder) remained out of practice Wednesday.
Ausberry, out since the second preseason game, has yet to resume practicing. Jeron Mastrud and Mychal Rivera will continue to fill in for now. Ausberry will return as the Raiders' starting tight end when healthy.
Raiders declared TE David Ausberry, QB Matt McGloin, CB Chimdi Chekwa, OT Menelik Watson, OG Antoine McClain, WR Juron Criner and DE Jack Crawford inactive for Week 2 against the Jaguars.
Ausberry will be the Raiders' starting tight end when healthy, but he's looking doubtful for Week 3. With Watson expected to miss roughly a month, Oakland is shifting RT Khalif Barnes to the blindside and inserting Tony Pashos at right tackle. It's not a good situation for Terrelle Pryor, who's going to have to rely on his legs to move the ball Sunday.
Raiders TE David Ausberry (shoulder) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.
Ausberry has been sidelined since the second preseason game and should be considered questionable, at best, for Week 3. The Raiders will go with Mychal Rivera and Jeron Mastrud at tight end.
Raiders TE David Ausberry (shoulder) has yet to resume practicing.
He's not going to suit up for Week 2, and should be considered questionable at best for Week 3. Ausberry has some pass-catching upside, but it's hard to see him making a fantasy impact upon his return.
Raiders TE David Ausberry (shoulder) is not practicing Wednesday.
Ausberry has been sidelined since the second preseason game and still can't practice. LT Menelik Watson (knee) also remained out Wednesday. The Raiders will be forced to start blocking TE Jeron Mastrud again if Ausberry doesn't return in Week 2.
