Zappe appears set to operate as the No. 2 quarterback behind Jacoby Brissett, who is slated to sign a one-year, $8 million contract with the Patriots, John Keim of ESPN reports.
Zappe completed 16 of 26 passes for 209 yards and three interceptions while adding 37 rushing yards and a touchdown on five carries in Sunday's 27-21 loss to the Bills.
Zappe implied Tuesday that he'll remain the Patriots' starting quarterback Thursday at Pittsburgh, Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald reports. "Coach (Bill Belichick) has made it pretty clear, but I'll let him announce it to everybody," Zappe said.
Zappe completed 13 of 25 passes for 141 yards with no touchdowns or turnovers in Sunday's 6-0 loss to the Chargers. He added four rushing attempts for 16 yards.

Zappe was the second quarterback to handle drills at Tuesday's unofficial practice behind Mac Jones (undisclosed), Mark Daniels of The Providence Journal reports.
Zappe replaced Mac Jones for the Patriots' final drive in a 10-6 loss to the Colts on Sunday, completing three of seven passes for 25 yards and an interception.
