The Bears released McCullers on Friday, Larry Mayer of the team's official site reports.

McCullers was signed by the Bears off the Pittsburgh practice squad Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

McCullers had two tackles in Sunday's 28-10 loss to the Ravens.

McCullers re-signed with the Steelers on a two-year deal Thursday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.

McCullers did not record a tackle during Sunday's 16-13 win over Cincinnati.

McCullers totaled five tackles (three solo), including a sack in the Steelers' 27-24 overtime win against Cleveland on Sunday.

McCullers (knee) was a full participant at Saturday's practice.

McCullers failed to record a tackle against Denver on Sunday, finishing with eight tackles (four solo), including a half sack this season.

ESPN Steelers reporter Scott Brown believes sixth-round NT Daniel McCullers could be ticketed for the practice squad. The Steelers don't have any proven options behind Steve McLendon, but McCullers is a long shot to open the season as the No. 2 nose tackle. At 6'7/352, he could eventually be a two-down run-stuffer in Pittsburgh's 3-4. McCullers played just two seasons at Tennessee and is going to be a massive project. Brown believes anything the Steelers get from McCullers in 2014 will be a bonus.
