The Baltimore Sun reports C Jeremy Zuttah's new deal with the Ravens runs through 2018.
Ravens acquired C Jeremy Zuttah from the Buccaneers in exchange for an undisclosed 2015 draft pick.
It's a late-round pick. Zuttah, 28 in June, is a Rutgers alum who was on the outs in Tampa Bay following Greg Schiano's departure. He ranked 22nd among 35 qualifying centers in Pro Football Focus' 2013 ratings, while incumbent Ravens C Gino Gradkowski came in dead last at 35th. Zuttah isn't an All Pro, but he's a stable addition to a Baltimore line that got rag-dolled all last season. Zuttah also ran a sub-5.00 forty time coming out and is a big athletic upgrade. He's a strong fit for new OC Gary Kubiak's zone-blocking scheme.
The Baltimore Sun reports the Ravens are expected to trade for Buccaneers C Jeremy Zuttah.
Per the Sun's Aaron Wilson, it's "unclear when the deal will be finalized, or the terms of the trade." Zuttah has been a release candidate Tampa and Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome is arguably the league's savviest GM, so we can't imagine the Bucs getting more than a sixth-round pick. Zuttah played below-average football in 2013, but was viewed as an ascending player before that and can play guard or center. He turns 28 in June. Zuttah's 2014 base salary is $4.5 million, so Baltimore will likely look to rework his deal.
