The Niners had a little depth at guard, so they used it here to acquire a decent possession receiver in Kerley. He could be used as a No. 4 or 5 receiver in San Francisco, and he can also be used as a punt returner.

The Lions have issues in terms of offensive line depth, so they used an extra wideout (Kerley) here in order to land Thomas (who should make the squad as a backup guard to begin 2016). This deal helps both squads.

Kerley's fantasy value is very low but it takes an even bigger dip moving from pass-happy Detroit to the run-oriented 49ers. He should not be drafted in virtually all league formats.
