PATS PICK UP BOSTIC FROM BEARS Tuesday, September 29, 2015
The New England Patriots acquired linebacker Jon Bostic from the Chicago Bears for a 6th-round draft pick in 2016.
What does it give the New England Patriots?
The Patriots strike again. New England has been one of the NFL's busiest teams on the trade market lately and Bostic is like many of their acquisitions: a high-upside player who may be a steal. Bostic has proven he can start in the NFL, he has the type of versatility New England covets, and he was talented enough to be selected in the second round of the '13 Draft. He provides excellent depth in the linebacking corps, and probably some special teams punch too.
What does it give the Chicago Bears?
After getting off to a dismal start this season the Bears seem to be in sell-off mode: they recently moved star linebacker/end Jared Allen, and now they ship out Bostic. This all suggests Chicago is already looking at 2016, especially since Allen and Bostic are both talented (although Bostic wasn't playing at all for the Bears).
Fantasy Impact
Even in fantasy formats featuring Individual Defensive Players, Bostic isn't pickup-worthy (yet) since he'll likely back up at several spots for New England early on. With the Bears there's even less fantasy impact, since Bostic hadn't played this season for Chicago.
