RAVENS RECEIVE CORNER DEPTH IN DAVIS Monday, September 21, 2015
The Baltimore Ravens acquired cornerback Will Davis from the Miami Dolphins for a 7th-round draft pick in 2016.
What does it give the Baltimore Ravens?
The Ravens' pass defense has been middling this season, so the still-promising Davis provides needed depth in the secondary. He can be a quality backup behind the team's core of cornerbacks, and has the potential to eventually become a starter. That said, it'll be surprising if Davis plays a lot early on or pushes for a starting job anytime soon.
What does it give the Miami Dolphins?
The Dolphins clearly got tired of waiting for Davis to fulfill his potential, and so they save some money here by moving him and moving on. Miami's pass 'D' has been solid (if not great) so far, and Davis never won a starting gig in his two-plus seasons with the club. Moreover, Miami has a fairly deep cornerback group, so it all added up to Davis becoming expendable.
Fantasy Impact
Davis projects as a situational / zone / backup corner for the Ravens--as he was with the Dolphins--so this change of scenery has little to no fantasy impact for either squad.
