BEARS GET TE PROSPECT LEE FROM TEXANS Wednesday, September 2, 2015
The Chicago Bears acquired tight end Khari Lee from the Houston Texans for a 6th-round draft pick in 2017.
What does it give the Chicago Bears?
Lee is an undrafted rookie but has a bit of untapped pass-catching ability, so the Bears add him here as a likely development prospect. It won't be surprising if Lee winds up on the Bears practice squad following final cuts. To make room Chicago waived tight end Blake Annen.
What does it give the Houston Texans?
The Texans already have two quality young pass-catching tight ends in Garrett Graham and C.J. Fiedorowicz, with sixth-round draft pick Ryan Griffin also in the mix (and superstar defensive end J.J. Watt also available for end zone duties). All that depth likely made Lee expendable, so Houston moves on here and gets a late-round pick in 2017 for a player they didn't have to draft.
Fantasy Impact
Lee has some long-range deep sleeper appeal because of his ability to catch the ball, but he's well down the depth chart in Chicago. Don't expect him to have much of a fantasy impact anytime soon.
