WASHINGTON LANDS SAFETY GOLDSON FROM TB Friday, April 3, 2015
The Washington Redskins acquired safety Dashon Goldson and a seventh-round draft pick in 2016 from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a sixth-round draft pick in 2016.
What does it give the Washington Commanders?
This is an important deal for the 'Skins, as they were still looking to add another quality defender for their secondary. Adding Goldson, a 30-year old who was named to the Pro Bowl in both 2011 and '12, should allow them to keep veteran Hall at cornerback (there was talk of moving him to free safety). Therefore, this move provides more depth overall.
What does it give the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?
For the Buccaneers, this is about getting something for Goldson before they were going to release him. Therefore, mission accomplished. Tampa Bay will move forward with the likes of Conte Wright and McDougald at the safety positions. The Bucs didn't get a lot in return for Goldson, but at least they did get something.
Fantasy Impact
Goldson's playmaking ability may see a spike moving to D.C. but he's not going to be a major fantasy defensive back in most IDP leagues in 2015.
