BRONCOS GET C DEPTH WITH GRADKOWSKI Wednesday, April 1, 2015
The Denver Broncos acquired center/guard Gino Gradkowski and a fifth-round draft pick in 2016 from the Baltimore Ravens for a fourth-round pick in 2016.
What does it give the Denver Broncos?
Broncos new head coach Gary Kubiak knows Gradkowski from their days together in Baltimore (when Kubiak was the Ravens' offensive coordinator), so clearly Kubiak trusts Gradkowski to step in and quickly pick up his zone blocking system. Making sure aging superstar QB Manning is protected is key for Denver's title hopes, and this is a low-risk move (since Gradkowski has starter talent but comes with a very affordable price tag).
What does it give the Baltimore Ravens?
Gradkowski fell out of favor with the Baltimore coaching staff last season so they get a slight pick upgrade here and save a little money. The Ravens have vet Zuttah locked in as their starter, so Gradkowski became expendable.
Fantasy Impact
There's little fantasy impact with this deal since it's mostly just a depth move for both squads involved (and because offensive linemen are rarely featured in most fantasy formats).
