With 2014 starting guard Mike McGlynn gone and the Chiefs seeming to focus more on the passing game, Grubbs is a nice fit. He can step in and provide much-needed pass protection for sack-prone QB Alex Smith. While Grubbs' best days may be behind him, he's still a well-above-average guard who's excellent at walling off pass rushers.

The Saints seem intent on slashing payroll and shaking up their disappointing roster, and moving Grubbs is just the lastest move in that push. The trade not only saves them over $6 million of salary for 2015, it frees things up roster-wise. This move also suggests New Orleans is looking to run the ball more in the coming campaign than in recent seasons. The emerging Tim Lelito has shown enough to deserve a look at replacing Grubbs at guard.

Since guards are rarely featured in fantasy leagues there's no direct fantasy impact here. More indirectly, expect improved play from KC QB Smith (since he'll enjoy better protection), and downgrade Brees for 2015 (since his protection gets that much worse, and the Saints look likely to run the ball more).
