ORLANDO BROWN BROUGHT IN BY KC Friday, April 23, 2021
The Kansas City Chiefs acquired offensive tackle Orlando Brown, a second-round draft pick in 2021 and a sixth-round draft pick in 2022 from the Baltimore Ravens for a first-round draft pick in 2021, a third-round draft pick in 2021, a fourth-round draft pick in 2021 and a fifth-round draft pick in 2022.
What does it give the Kansas City Chiefs?
The Chiefs released both of their starting offensive tackles (LT Eric Fisher and RT Mitchell Schwartz) earlier this off-season, so Brown should be viewed as a massive upgrade. He played right tackle in Baltimore but should slide over to replace Fisher on the blind side this season. His arrival could make KC the early favorites to get back to the Super Bowl for a third season in a row.
What does it give the Baltimore Ravens?
It is rather surprising to see AFC contenders trade with each other, especially since Baltimore will most likely need to get past Kansas City in order to get to the Super Bowl in 2021. That said, the Ravens did get back a big package in exchange for their disgruntled offensive lineman (Brown no longer wanted to play right tackle, but Ronnie Stanley is entrenched as the starter there for Baltimore).
Fantasy Impact
This deal should have a huge impact on the Chiefs from an offensive (and fantasy) perspective, albeit from an indirect standpoint.
