DOLPHINS DEAL FOR ISAIAH WILSON Wednesday, March 17, 2021
The Miami Dolphins acquired offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson and a seventh-round draft pick in 2022 from the Tennessee Titans for a seventh-round draft pick in 2021.
What does it give the Miami Dolphins?
In Wilson, the Dolphins land a potential steal if he is able to make a greater commitment to being an NFL lineman. His upside should provide Wilson with plenty of opportunities to win the right tackle job out of training camp this summer. He will likely compete with second-year O-lineman Robert Hunt (with fellow sophomore Austin Jackson likely manning the left tackle position for the Dolphins).
What does it give the Tennessee Titans?
For the Titans, this move is designed to forget all about Wilson and move on. Tennessee selected Wilson 29th overall in last year's draft, so obviously they are not getting full value on their investment with this trade. That said, the team simply felt it could no longer wait on Wilson (who had become a distraction on the team). Tennessee will likely address their right tackle situation either via free agency or the draft.
Fantasy Impact
Wilson could help the Dolphins' offense, and specifically young quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, if he is committed to his new team. At worst, he will provide depth along the O-line. Miami's skilled players should be helped by this move.
