This is a surprise, as two division rivals rarely swing trades to help each other. However, Ford could be an important pickup for a Patriots team nearly devoid of playmaking talent at the receiver positions.

Ford spent most of this season as a backup slot receiver for Miami, but the team has several other options for both the slot and wideout positions that they felt comfortable moving Ford at this time--even to New England. Go figure!

If fantasy leaguers are as desperate as New England is to find more playmakers at the wide receiver positions, they could do worse than give Ford a try. That said, Patriots quarterback Cam Newton needs to start throwing the ball better for ANY Pats receiver to have fantasy relevance.
