EVERSON GRIFFEN GOES TO DETROIT Tuesday, October 27, 2020
The Detroit Lions acquired defensive end Everson Griffen from the Dallas Cowboys for a conditional sixth-round draft pick in 2021.
What does it give the Detroit Lions?
Griffen is a veteran D-lineman who is mostly a pass rusher at this point in his career. That said, he could make an impact in Motown, since the Lions struggle to generate pressure on the quarterback on a consistent basis. Griffen will be used situationally by coach Matt Patricia.
What does it give the Dallas Cowboys?
The Cowboys may still be in the thick of the NFC East, er, race, but they decided to sell Griffen (who is on a one-year contract and can become a free agent once again this off-season). The potential return of oft-suspended defensive end Randy Gregory may have played a role here.
Fantasy Impact
There is no fantasy impact here, even if Griffen supplies Detroit with the QB pressure skills they badly need. He will not likely be used enough to be a fantasy factor in IDP leagues.
