Trade Details
SANU SENT TO THE CHAMPS Tuesday, October 22, 2019
The New England Patriots acquired wide receiver Mohamed Sanu from the Atlanta Falcons for a second-round draft pick in 2020.
What does it give the New England Patriots?
In a classic case of the rich getting richer, the Patriots add Sanu (who spent most of his time in the slot with Atlanta, but he can also play outside) to a wide receiver corps that includes slot man Julian Edelman, Josh Gordon, Phillip Dorsett II and rookie Jakobi Meyers. To compensate for the lack of production from the tight end position since Rob Gronkowski's retirement, New England is loading up on wide receiver talent this season.
What does it give the Atlanta Falcons?
This is a clear indication by the Falcons that they are waving the white flag early this season. Now 1-6 after seven weeks, Atlanta is going nowhere quickly so Sanu might be the first of many players to be dealt before next week's trade deadline. Calvin Ridley will become the clear No. 2 wide receiver option behind superstar Julio Jones moving forward. Getting a second-rounder for Sanu is pretty good value for the sputtering Falcons.
Fantasy Impact
Sanu moves to a stacked New England wide receiver situation, so his fantasy value may not rise as much as expected. That said, he was not doing much in Atlanta this season. Pick Sanu up if available in most fantasy leagues.
