New York Jets AFC East
Trade Details
DEMARYIUS THOMAS TRADED TO THE JETS Tuesday, September 10, 2019
The New York Jets acquired wide receiver Demaryius Thomas from the New England Patriots for a sixth-round draft pick in 2021.
What does it give the New York Jets?
The Jets needed to add more weapons on offense, so the arrival of Thomas should not come as a surprise. The fact they made a trade with their AFC East rivals in New England is a bit of a shocker, though. Desperate times call for desperate measures and it seems as if New York is already in desperate mode, after struggling on offense in Week 1 against Buffalo.
What does it give the New England Patriots?
There was no need for Thomas anymore on the Patriots following the acquisition of Antonio Brown recently. Therefore, New England dealt Thomas to their rivals in New York for a sixth-rounder in '21. The Pats are so loaded at wide receiver right now with Brown, Josh Gordon, Julian Edelman and Phillip Dorsett II that they will not even notice the Thomas departure.
Fantasy Impact
Thomas should see more targets, and more playing time in general, with the Jets. That said, he is not going to make a major fantasy impact any longer and is really a 50/50 proposition at this point. Pick him up if options are limited in various league formats but Thomas is not recommendable for the most part.
