New York Jets AFC East
Trade Details
OSEMELE OFF TO THE NEW YORK JETS Wednesday, March 13, 2019
The New York Jets acquired offensive guard Kelechi Osemele and a sixth-round draft pick in 2019 from the Oakland Raiders for a fifth-round draft pick in 2019.
What does it give the New York Jets?
The Jets had major issues with their offensive line last season, so getting Osemele here for a one-round downgrade late in this year's draft could prove to be a steal. He will start at left guard and likely become the anchor of the O-line in New York. The 29-year-old Osemele improves the Jets on offense in every way.
What does it give the Las Vegas Raiders?
This move by the Raiders is mostly financial, as Osemele carried one of the team's highest cap hits heading into 2019. Therefore, the left guard was sacrificed in exchange for an upgrade in this year's draft. Chaz Green, who started one game for the Raiders, is a candidate to take over for Osemele in '19.
Fantasy Impact
The Raiders' offensive players should not be affected too badly by Osemele's departure. That said, the running game may still be an issue for the 'Silver and Black'. Meanwhile, Osemele's arrival will likely help both the running game and the passing game in New York. That said, both teams still have a lot of work to do in order to become contenders (and also to become a little more fantasy-relevant).
