FOWLER FINDS HIMSELF WITH THE RAMS Tuesday, October 30, 2018
The Los Angeles Rams acquired linebacker/defensive end Dante Fowler Jr. from the Jacksonville Jaguars for a third-round draft pick in 2019 and a fifth-round draft pick in 2020.
What does it give the Los Angeles Rams?
The Rams are (arguably) the best team in the NFL this season, so it is understandable that they are gunning for a Super Bowl appearance (if not title). Fowler Jr. may help them get there, although he needs to find his niche with LA after losing his starting job to Yannick Ngakoue in Jacksonville. Fowler Jr. will likely serve as a situational pass rusher for the Rams.
What does it give the Jacksonville Jaguars?
This is an outstanding return for the Jaguars, as Fowler Jr. was no longer in their plans. In exchange for a backup, Jacksonville was able to land a third rounder in next year's draft and a fifth rounder in 2020. That is a very impressive deal from a Jags perspective. Fowler Jr. was a massive disappointment for Jacksonville, but at least the team turned him into a good haul.
Fantasy Impact
Fowler Jr. may get more sacks in Los Angeles (he had only 2 so far in 2018 as a member of the Jaguars), but he still needs to learn a new system and the team needs to figure out where to line him up. Therefore, he holds very little fantasy value for the rest of 2019.
