Philadelphia Eagles NFC East
Trade Details
TATE TRADED TO THE EAGLES Tuesday, October 30, 2018
The Philadelphia Eagles acquired wide receiver Golden Tate from the Detroit Lions for a third-round draft pick in 2019.
What does it give the Philadelphia Eagles?
In Tate, the Eagles land a legitimate wideout with plenty of yards-after-catch ability. Tate can play both on the outside or slot, so he will probably play wide receiver in Philadelphia (due to the abundance of slot receivers, namely Nelson Agholor and Jordan Matthews, on the current roster).
What does it give the Detroit Lions?
The Lions did well here to land a third rounder in exchange for Tate, who can become a free agent after 2018. The fact that Detroit has three other quality options at wide receiver (Marvin Jones Jr., Kenny Golladay and TJ Jones) allowed them to deal Tate at this time. This was a solid move for all parties involved.
Fantasy Impact
If he can quickly find chemistry with quarterback Carson Wentz, Tate could have a very impactful second half of the 2018 NFL campaign. That is great news for all Tate fantasy owners. Agholor and Matthews figure to lose out after this trade, while Golladay and the two Joneses should see more targets in Detroit.
