HYDE HEADS TO JACKSONVILLE Friday, October 19, 2018
The Jacksonville Jaguars acquired running back Carlos Hyde from the Cleveland Browns for a fifth-round draft pick in 2019.
What does it give the Jacksonville Jaguars?
In Hyde, the Jaguars land a solid contingency plan in case franchise running back Leonard Fournette cannot make it back anytime soon from his hamstring issues. Hyde will immediately become Jacksonville's No. 1 back while Fournette is absent and should give the Jags a decent return to their run-heavy ways.
What does it give the Cleveland Browns?
It was becoming increasingly obvious with each passing week that the Browns needed to give rookie running back Nick Chubb the ball more. This move accomplishes just that, as Chubb will now become Cleveland's No. 1 back ahead of passing down back Duke Johnson Jr. This was a solid deal for all parties concerned.
Fantasy Impact
The biggest impact should be made by Chubb moving forward, as he could become a fantasy star in the second half of 2018. Hyde could also benefit greatly running in the Jaguars' offensive scheme, although the presence of both Fournette and T.J. Yeldon is cause for concern for all Hyde fantasy owners. Fournette could be the biggest loser here is his season becomes compromised due to his lingering hamstring woes.
