CLEVELAND TRADES COLEMAN TO BUFFALO Sunday, August 5, 2018
The Buffalo Bills acquired wide receiver Corey Coleman from the Cleveland Browns for a seventh-round draft pick in 2020.
What does it give the Buffalo Bills?
This is a potential steal for the Bills, as Coleman is obviously talented (as a first-round draft pick). Buffalo has struggled in the passing game in the recent past, so the hope is that Coleman (among others) can improve the situation. He joins veteran Kelvin Benjamin and second-year man Zay Jones in an improved group of pass-catching talent in Buffalo. This was an outstanding deal for the Bills.
What does it give the Cleveland Browns?
This move comes as somewhat of a surprise, since Coleman was a first rounder for Cleveland just three years ago (2016), so clearly the Browns felt compelled to deal him away. They got virtually nothing in return, so the hope is that other wideouts will step up for the Browns. There is also the possibility that Cleveland may add veteran WR Dez Bryant in the coming days. Stay tuned.
Fantasy Impact
Coleman's situation improves now that he is a Bill, while Jones may be the big loser here. Benjamin's fantasy value may take a slight hit here, as well. As for the Browns, rookie Antonio Callaway and (potentially) Bryant appear to be the victors, and both should see their fantasy value rise after this trade.
