BROWNS SHIP KIZER TO PACKERS FOR D-BACK RANDALL Wednesday, March 14, 2018
The Green Bay Packers acquired quarterback DeShone Kizer, a 4th-round draft pick in 2018, and a 5th-round draft pick in 2018 from the Cleveland Browns for defensive back Damarious Randall, a 4th-round draft pick in 2018, and a 5th-round draft pick in 2018.
What does it give the Green Bay Packers?
Kizer clearly wasn't ready for prime time as a rookie with Cleveland last season, but some talent evaluators think he has the raw tools to eventually be a quality NFL starter. That makes him a nice backup prospect behind superstar Aaron Rodgers, and his super-affordable contract made the price right. That said, giving up Randall is a fairly hefty cost talent-wise.
What does it give the Cleveland Browns?
It's easy to question some of the other trades Cleveland has made this off-season (due to their risky nature), but it's just as easy to like this one. Randall is starter-level young defensive back with a highly affordable contract, and he can help the Browns defense get better right away.
Fantasy Impact
Kizer obviously loses almost all of the limited fantasy value he had as an NFL starter, but he's worth keeping an eye on if Rodgers gets hurt or needs a rest. Meanwhile Randall is a good young defensive back who has a real knack for interceptions, so keep him on the radar in leagues featuring Individual Defensive Players.
