Phillips looked like he might not make the final cut with Washington heading into this season, seemingly getting outplayed this preseason by Joshua Holsey. So Pittsburgh snaps him up here and adds some quality depth. Phillips can be a very solid backup cornerback option for his new team, and he has shown he can start at nickel back if needed. Crowley wasn't expected to be a key player for the Pittsburgh offense, so this is a nice swap all-round for the Steelers.

Washington is dealing with an injury to starting center Spencer Long (arthroscopic surgery on his knee), so Crowley is a must-add for depth. The rookie isn't likely to be a big-minute performer, but heading into the regular season he gives his new team a rotational option behind fellow rookie Chase Roullier.

There's little to no fantasy impact with this deal. Even in leagues featuring Individual Defensive Players it's tough to see Phillips putting up significant numbers as a likely backup; and even if Crowley makes the final roster for Washington, he too won't show up much on the stat sheet (since he's a backup center).
