BRONCOS BRING IN BARBRE FROM EAGLES Wednesday, July 26, 2017
The Denver Broncos acquired offensive lineman Allen Barbre from the Philadelphia Eagles for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2019.
What does it give the Denver Broncos?
This is a pretty low-risk move by the Broncos. Barbre is an aging veteran who at best can step in and start at left guard, and at worst can be released before the final roster is set (with the latter eventuality guaranteeing Denver gets its seventh-round pick back, as per the conditions of the trade). The Broncos currently have young Max Garcia starting at left guard, but if they decide they want a more veteran presence they can go with Barbre instead.
What does it give the Philadelphia Eagles?
The Eagles were reportedly set to release Barbre before this deal happened, so instead they get something back here from an interested party. In dealing Barbre they cut some salary money, and clear up any doubt about who their new starting guard is (the much-younger Isaac Seumalo).
Fantasy Impact
Barbre might give the Broncos' running backs a slight boost in 2017 with his run-blocking--assuming he sticks with the team--but any overall fantasy impact with this deal is negligible.
